Line up(s) available: 6 piece or more ST8 (pronounced “estate”), hail from Collingwood housing estate’s (hence the name) underground car park. ST8 a 6 piece ensemble, half of whom reside on the Collingwood estate, live to breathe, eat, drink and dream music. ST8’s music is non-discriminatory, who defy definition, with musical influences from all genres but, are happy with the progressive classification: Hip poppable rock n fused blues with soul! Basically, if it can be brought to the turn-table, then ST8 will give it a whirl. ST8’s bass player Kurt is a percussionist with a feel for the keys, guitar and whatever else may be lying about. Hailing from Perth, Kurt is the band’s cool cat with a mellow laidback personality whom loves to pump up the jams with hip hop and relax like a cat with soul n funk. Guitarist Les is a rocker who likes to jam and grunt it out hard, stuck in a realm somewhere in the 70's - and he's not comin' back! Rhythmic guitarist Ben is a maestro with the gat, stringing together many a tune and throwing in lyrical prowess, which Emily Dickinson cleverly espoused, “with ease and you beside”. Not content to just string, Ben can sing too, interjecting funk n fused blues to tone down the heavy rock hitting beats, ST8 bounces out. Vocalist Kaukau has been blessed with a voice that has the power to shift the tectonic plates and create earthquakes (and not with her voice – LOL!) Mata, a cool character that loves the R'n'B overtures of soul, brings hip-hop into the mix, rapping over the beats and singing to the groove tunes. Steve, resident drummer, torn by the injustices of life has the ability to rock it hard, rock it slow, whichever way it may go... o longer content to listen to the virtues of other musicians, Steve lives to push and pound the ST8 sound.
