The Toothless Dragons

Profile Songlist Bookings
Based in: Melbourne VIC
Line up(s) available: 6 piece or more

The Toothless Dragons developed into quite a Phenomenon after the conception of the original band.

The 6 piece act performed throughout Victoria and interstate playing various Pubs, Clubs, Festivals and Private events. A strong fan base supported the Dragons from gig to gig. After a 3 year reign The Toothless Dragons were laid to rest when the group disbanded after their final show at the Sunbury Autumn Festival in 2004.

After 4 long years, 2008 sees the resurrection of The Toothless Dragons with a dynamic new line up comprising of a 6-piece act!

The powerful vocals from the male & female singers, a solid rhythm section along with the colorful blend of keys and guitars are complimented with the beat of the original Dragons drummer.

This talented group of professionals allows the band to perform a varied repertoire including your favorite; Classics, Top 40 Chart Hits, and Techno Dance tracks.

The Toothless Dragons new combination of synch keyboards and electronics drums enables the band to produce many different formats and styles of music, this in turn enables them to create a show for any venue or occasion.

Catch The Toothless Dragons playing at a venue near you and witness one of the most energetic, entertaining and distinctive cover band shows in Melbourne. We look forward to the fun times ahead and sharing them with you!

John Cail - Lead Frontman
Perhaps best known for his inept ability to recite lyrics to any Offspring or Faith No More track off the top of his head - this Gippsland-born aussie/pom is usually spotted between tracks downing shots at the bar or annoying fellow bandmate Casey with a wide array of various inanimate objects. Although a hard rocker at heart, this singer enjoys the odd over-the-top power ballad, and appreciates the showmanship of any 80s glam-rock band, or (insert random 90s boy band here). When not singing or writing bad poetry, JC can usually be found on quiet nights endlessly gazing into the stars.

Belinda Urbans -  Female Vocals
In between singing in her lounge room with a hairbrush in hand to singing the shower, Belinda has performed with an 80s band ripping it up with Roxette and Jovi. She sang the National Anthem in front of 8,000 spectators at the local football grand final and has made the odd karaoke appearance!
After a mini hiatus, Belinda has re-embraced her passion for performing by recently joining The Toothless Dragons as their female vocalist.
She also enjoys chicken salads and walks along the beach….

Casey Wilfling - Lead/Rhythm Guitar, Keys, Backing Vocals
Casey has been playing in bands since he was 15 that he had started in high-school and through these bands he gained the experience as a performer through these projects as they achieved quite an amount of success around the local circuit. Since then, he has been a member of various cover-band projects ranging from exclusive 80’s cover material to the more modern contemporary set-lists.

Now as a member of the ‘TOOTHLESS DRAGONS’ he believes that now he has finally found a band which envisions the same ideals of the level of performing, as well as musicianship, that he has always held himself to carry through his time a professional musician.

Chris Patas - Lead/Rhythm Guitar
Chris Patas grew up in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. His love of Metal inspired him to pick up his first guitar in high school. He later attended LaTrobe university where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, Music major. It was around this time he began performing in various grudge and rock cover bands around the Melbourne traps. After a break from music, he went on to write and perform with an original heavy groove band called Skankchaser. Their energetic live shows earned them great reviews at venues such as Armadale, The Metro, The Evelyn and Sub Culture. This success saw endorsements in street wear and invitations to appear at exclusive, corporate Skate shows.

Chris is now a member of the TD line up where he looks forward to a successful future rocking with the rest of the Dragons.

Chris Murphy - Bass Guitar
Chris grew up in a small NSW town and started playing bass guitar when he was 13 when his mates started a band and needed a bass player.

Chris played in successful local coverband Triple Chamber until he moved to Newcastle to attend university. He joined heavy groove outfit Equinibrium who received airplay on JJJ as well as Newcastle radio. Equinibrium then toured the east coast. A year later Chris had to leave Equinibrium to complete his university degree, as touring commitments were too much. Instead Chris played several large shows with insane local heavy band Pimp Money.

After university Chris moved to Melbourne where he played in several coverbands and original bands. Chris continues his bass guitar studies and has found a love of funk, as well as expanding his repertoire to jazz, reggae & latin, as well as the previous rock, metal, and pop. Chris is part of a tight rhythm section in Toothless Dragons and aims to have everyone at the shows up and grooving on the dance floor.

Jake Cutajar - Drums/ Backing Vocals
Jake Cutajar is the only surviving original member of The Toothless Dragons (TD). The band was first formed back in his high school days over 9 years ago and continued a long lasting journey that built upon a legacy, that saw them playing all over Victoria in pubs, clubs, festivals and private events. The band unfortunately disbanded in 2004, while Jake further developed his musical career onto the original music scene.

Since then, Jake has been fortunate enough to play in some of Melbourne’s great original bands such as Texta, Imprint and The Vagrants. Such time has sent Jake on a wild career recording with some of the best in the business and playing in some of Melbourne’s most respected venue’s such as The Espy (headlining with Airborne), Ferntree Gully Hotel, The East Brunswick hotel and at The Corner Hotel (supporting Justin Murphy). Playing with the Vagrants even sent Jake on a 2 month overseas tour to Europe.

It is now 2008 and Jake is back home with the band that kicked off his career with a whole new line up. With the expansion of his drum kit, Jake now looks to introduce a new blend of electronic and acoustic drums while teaming up with Casey on synth keys. Stay tuned, as TD will take you on its most wild ride ever.
