Starting at the age of twelve, he worked with Martin during school holidays, at fifteen Shane left school to go on the road travelling the world as Martin’s sound man – a job which included rehearsing the band to play the music and sound effects for the performance. As technology developed, Shane introduced records, then later, audiocassettes. Today the show runs on Lap top computer. And now after an apprenticeship which has included setting up, driving, lighting, sound, stage assistant and more (including putting up the posters! ), Shane presents his own show – a magical blend of Martin and Shane, father and son, both hypnotists of a standard unsurpassed. Since January 1995, when Shane took his ‘show on the road’, audiences have flocked to see Shane St James, with his own unique brand of humor and stage presentation. “Shane has decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and I’m really proud of that decision”, says Martin St James – who himself, in true ‘showbiz’ tradition, ran away from home at fourteen to join the circus and there began his training as a stage hypnotist – profession that would take him around the world, playing to diversity of audiences including the House of Lords!. You will find Shane, and Martin, currently touring their unique talents: Both as a dynamic double act, and also as spectacular individual performers in their own rights. Shane St James specializes in shows catered to the corporate market.
Shane St James is very suggestive. In fact he’s been practicing mass suggestion, all over the world, on a very wide scale for many years. And when Shane suggests…people comply. Shane brings members of the audience, and the volunteers on stage, together, performing and interacting in a tasteful manner…a perfect end to a team building conference, or a lighthearted finale to an intense training seminar. As a stage hypnotist he has his subjects eating out of his hand. When he tells them they are chickens, they strut around scratching and clucking. When he tells them they are washing machines, it’s as if he has just pressed the super wash cycle…arms and bodies go flying into a triple action, power-packed tumble wash. Mick Jagger’s no problem – everybody can emulate this sexy rock star with big fat lips. Madonna and the River-Dancers are outrageous, but it’s Michael Jackson, Superman and the Ballet, who really steal the limelight. Shane’s corporate performance can be tailored to suit any sized function – from as small as 30 or 40 people, to audiences numbered in the thousands, ‘Black Tie’ to casual affair, and the show can run from as short as 45 minutes, up to 1 ½ hours long. Shane enjoys adapting his repertoire to reflect aspects of your business, such as products, mission statements or even the boss’s name, to add that personalized touch, or to blend in with your theme.
