The style of the band can range from lounge jazz, smooth standards, cool groovy songs to funk/pop covers to suit your event. The band is comprised of male voice, guitar, bass and drums which gives a unique sound and provides the perfect atmosphere for any event. Ben Gillard, Sam Leske (Guitar), Nikki Stedman (Bass) and Holly Thomas (Drums) all met while studying the jazz performance degree in 2007. The band formed shortly after and began doing regular and one-off gigs at various venues and festivals around South Australia. The Ben Gillard Quartet brings a unique twist to Jazz with four very musical and educated players, who have all played many different styles in their musical careers. The band only pushes on stronger and continues to blossom as it becomes more and more a part of Adelaide's entertainment scene. The band can only make your event more memorable and aspire to impress at every occasion.
It all started when the band played for Brighton Secondary School’s Jazz Cabaret and from there where given a regular appearance at Mantra Hindmarsh Square (previously Pacific International Hotel). This encouraged the band to get new repertoire and play together more often. With many more gigs under their belt, the Ben Gillard Quartet began playing at prestigious events including the regular jazz & wine afternoon at Woodstock Wineries and also with two gigs at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Jazz at the Stables. As well as these public appearances, the band has also successfully been the entertainment for weddings and corporate functions.
