Gli Amorosi is Alys Cordeaux and Jon Marshall - are an exciting and glamorous young vocal duet. With style, soul and passion, their fusion of soaring soprano and smooth lyric tenor brings magic to any event where quality entertainment is the standard.

Trained as classical singers, Gli Amorosi have introduced a unique and captivating sound to the world of contemporary vocal entertainment with their distinctive arrangements of popular, romantic and inspirational songs, as well as the great film themes and classics from Broadway and the West End musicals.

Regular entertainers at one of the Gold Coast’s top resort complexes, the Chevron Renaissance Centre, Gli Amorosi have also recently performed as guest artists at the Sheraton Mirage and Spa Gold Coast (International Volunteers Day Awards Ceremony) and in a fund-raising concert for Queensland Cancer Research.

Bio's

ALYS CORDEAUX – soprano
Born into a musical family in Aotearoa-New Zealand, soprano Alys Cordeaux began singing lessons at age five with renowned vocal teacher Clifton Cook OBE, who described her ability as “exceptional.” By her early teens, Alys was a seasoned and successful performer with local operatic and professional theatre companies and Canterbury Opera, as well as a winner of vocal competitions and awards.

Alys was privileged to study and perform with Dame Malvina Major, one of New Zealand’s best loved and well-known international opera singers, graduating from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Music Honours (First Class) in Vocal Performance in 2004. Alys has been the recipient of several awards and scholarships, including the Dame Malvina Major Foundation High Achiever Award and the Hawke’s Bay Opera “Operatic Aria” Scholarship.

Alys has performed a diverse range of solo and ensemble works in various events and venues, including an appearance at “Opera in the Vines,” an annual festival in New Zealand’s major wine-growing region of Marlborough. In Australia, she has concentrated on singing duets with her partner, Jon Marshal, in the successful classical cross-over duo Gli Amorosi. Performances have included regular gigs at one of the Gold Coast’s top resort complexes as well as appearances at charity events and a fund-raising concert for Queensland Cancer Research alongside well-known Australian tenor Romano Dragoni.

JONATHAN MARSHALL – tenor
Growing up in a small rural community in the deep south of New Zealand, tenor Jonathan Marshall seemed destined to follow in the family footsteps as a farmer. But a chance to learn music at the age of seven beckoned Jon away from the woolshed to the bright lights of the stage and the concert platform.

From the age of eight, Jon keenly participated in choirs, musicals and vocal competitions. At 17 he was selected for the prestigious New Zealand Secondary Schools Choir, and had the opportunity of touring in Australia.
In 2004, Jon was awarded a Bachelor of Music Honours degree at the University of Canterbury where he was tutored by international opera singers Dame Malvina Major and Vernon Midgley. During this period, Jon performed in various choral and stage productions, including a principal role in The Magic Flute, and a duet with Dame Malvina.

Singing duets is now a major part of Jon’s life - with soprano and partner Alys Cordeaux as part of the popera duo Gli Amorosi.
