Blazin' Hussies is 15 minute cabaret style duo fire and dance show.

Blazin' Hussies are the ‘must have' accessory at every notable occasion these days. These enticing crowd pleasers will have your guests coming back for more!

How to make a Blazin' Hussy; Take two cheeky chix, add a drop each of jazz and Salsa, a bit of bollywood, and a good dose of cabaret. Now set fire to the lot, throw in a white rabbit and top hat, and serve with a dollop of silly, a splash of sexy, several shakes, 1.5 giggles and a shimmy or two to taste... They can be mixed to suit your needs, from a 2.5 minute disco inferno to a full 15 minute flaming infusion.

Founded by Tj Blaze, who is joined by Mistress Tinsel.


Tj Blaze aka Tjoni Johansen
After over ten years of theatrical involvement mainly behind the scenes, Tjoni took to the stage five years ago after falling in love with the art of twirling fire. She’d been warned as a child about playing with matches, so she initially set fire to both ends of a broomstick instead…(Kids don’t try this at home…or if you do, um, give it to someone else to hold / blame...)

Since that momentous occasion, and the fiery obsession that sprouted from it, Tjoni has performed as a firespinner and African dancer with several fire and circus troupes and as a soloist, at various corporate events, functions, festivals, all around Australia. She also loves sharing the skill of poi and staff twirling with others and has been teaching for the past five years at festivals, a dance school, and provides private tuition and choreography advice.

Tjoni’s focus is on combining firespinning with various dance styles, especially African and belly dancing, and on exploring elements of movement and art as a tool for healing, self empowerment and spiritual growth. She also continues to nurture and be nurtured by her business of nine years as a costume designer and creator.

Mistress Tinsel aka Antoinette Abbott
Antoinette has been performing in one form or another her entire life. With twelve years of gymnastics behind her and many years of Jazz, Classical, Modern ballet and theatre training, she has always loved fire and discovered the art of fire dancing at an early age.

She spins single and double staff, poi, foxtail, fire ropes and fire hoola hoops, and has performed with many an exotic fire toy including fire fans, gloves, fingers, skipping rope, wings, parasol, eating torches and geometric shapes.With a background in theatre and dance her performance is a fusion of many different styles, most recently including Latin and burlesque.

Over the past ten years Antoinette has performed with many fire and dance troupes and led workshops in the creative and performing arts throughout Australia and Internationally. She has also been involved in all aspects of performance production including costume making and design, jewellery, choreography, make-up and hair design.
