Almost Famous is a duo where both pay guitar and sing with backing trax. The duo consists of Johnny Cooper an ex Go Show artist and other TV shows from the 60's to the 70's and W & G recording Artist, and Dennis Bugat who appeared on In Melbourne Tonight in the 60's.

Almost Famous delivers a great night's entertainment anywhere, anytime! From the blues to screaming rock 'n' roll, beautiful ballads to foot tappin' country, an incredible repertoire that reaches back as far as Nat King Cole, through to Chuck Berry and the Beatles.

Johnny Cooper

With over 30 years experience playing some of Australia's finest venues including The International Hotel, The Grand Central, and hundreds of pubs, clubs, restaurants and private venues.

Johnny was a member of a number of well known bands in the 60s playing all the major venues of the time. He started with a group called the Monarchs in 1960 as rhythm guitarist and they did most of the dances at that time including Preston Town Hall, Richmond Town Hall, Mordialloc Lifesaving Club and others. Johnny left the group to start another group called the Mustangs which later went on to work with Johnny Marks.

Then came the Saxons of which Johnny was lead singer. They were the resident band at Thursday nights Canterbury Ballroom, Preston Town Hall Saturday nights, Preston Circle, Sunday nights and Festival Hall concerts on Sundays.

On going solo, Johnny appeared regularly on the Go Show and several times on Kommotion, Johnny Chester’s Teen time, Bandstand and Ten On The Town in Sydney. His first single was “Oh Donna” with “Farmer John” on the flipside backed by the Strangers.
