The Reason consists of two of Melbourne's finest singer/guitarists, Derek Macpherson and Mark Taylor, who have now been working together for around three years. Their unique feel and professional attitude has won them many plaudits and led to corporate work and a residency at, according to The Age newspaper, one of Melbourne's best restaurants.
Derek has been a singer and guitarist since childhood, with extensive experience in both his native Scotland and in Australia, in a wide variety of musical styles from folk to funk and from pop to punk. Bands he has played in include Rain (pop), One Over The Eight (rock), and Dexter Slim and the Pick-ups (country) in Scotland, and Naked Faces (funk), Haber�s Lathe (folk) and J.F.Candie (fusion) in Australia. He brings a passion and professionalism to his performance to please the most particular of punters.
Mark has played guitar and sung in a diverse range of acts across Melbourne and Victoria including five piece cover band Bitchin', eleven piece jazz outfit The Clare Castle Band and mainstream jazz trio Stardust. His range also encompasses blues, funk and rock. Mark is always entertaining with quick quips that keep crowds coming back for a complete compliment of entertainment
