Fiddlers Green began in the Pilbara region of WA, when Bob met Les Helfgott (violin) and Steve Roberts (guitar, flute, vocals) at a folk club that Bob started in Wickham in 1980. Fiddlers Green played at a local seafood outdoor restaurant and needed a name to advertise, hence Fiddlers Green was born.

When Bob, Les and Steve moved to Perth in 1983, they began a professional career, which continues today. Les and Steve moved on and others came and went over the years, including Bryan Connell (guitar, flute, vocals), Dave Oliver (guitar, bazouki, bass, vocals), Dave Clarke (violin, guitar, harmonica, vocals), Melissa Raser Weed (guitar, bass, flute, vocals), Roy Abbott (guitar and vocals), Don Blue (guitar, bass, mandolin, vocals, tin whistle), Erik Kowarski (violin, guitar, mandolin, bass, vocals). Many have contributed to songwriting and arranging. Fiddlers Green have produced many cassettes, CD’s and school instructional packages including bush dance instruction CD’s and songs specific to various ages of children and adults.

Fiddlers Green have toured extensively and are sought after for corporate, private gigs and school concerts and bush dances. Crowds of several hundred are catered for as easily as small groups.

Bush Dance
As dance caller for the whole duration of Fiddlers Green, Bob Emery has developed a unique style of dance calling for specific and wide age groups of all nationalities, (even non English speaking and handicapped groups). Its all done with a lot of non threatening fun and superb organising skills.

No experience is required for Fiddlers Green bush dances, which is why it works wonderfully well at weddings. It also cuts the age barriers, and everyone has a great time (all ages and abilities).

Costs
Fiddlers Green keep costs down by working mainly as a 3 piece group, although a larger group line-up is readily available. The harmonies and multi-instrumental skills ensure a big sound with a small number of musicians. The sound is all live, no backings or nasty drum machines are needed.

Concerts
For festivals and international groups, Fiddlers perform stunning concerts and bush dance as required. They have worked in Perth concert hall supporting groups, and many festivals around Australia, and for corporate organisations and tourist promotion.

Fiddlers Greens professional approach to every occasion means organisers can relax knowing that clients/groups will be more that happy with the event.

Expert instrumentalist, close vocal harmony and tight arrangements feature are all part of Fiddlers Green gigs.
