Line up(s) available: solo Singer/songwriter/guitarist Abrie (pronounced Aah-bree) has been writing and performing for several years in both his native South Africa and in Australia, since immigrating in 2000. Abrie's style is not genre specific, as portrayed in his diversity as both a solo artist and in bands such as energetic Sydney rock outfit, Timeslave and currently with his new band, Airbender. Armed with emotive and insightful lyrics, strong guitar driven melodies and a unique and powerful voice, Abrie delivers his songs with depth and sensitivity, honesty and conviction. Abrie recorded his debut 4 track acoustic EP, “Waiting for the light”, at the Grove studios on the Central Coast in May 2006, produced and engineered by Andy Sorenson. Songs from this EP have enjoyed TV airplay on the Laugh Garage Comedy club’s “Dazz & Gazz’s Radio show on TV”, as well as radio airplay on a number of radio stations around the Central coast. In 2006 Abrie was chosen as one of only 7 performers to take part in a performers challenge as part of the opening week-end festivities in Thredbo. Not limited by his original material, Abrie also performs as solo acoustic covers artist around the Central coast and Sydney. His repertoire includes acoustic versions of songs by the following artists among others: Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, U2, Billy Joel, Powderfinger, The Beatles, Coldplay, Live, Collective Soul, Pearl Jam Abrie has performed alongside acts like The Matt Finish band, Gillie Moon, Amy Vee, Anthony Snape, Marty Simpson, The fellowship of the strings and Six pocket theory etc. Some of the venues Abrie has performed at in the past 3 years: The Cat & Fiddle(Balmain), The Monkey Bar(Balmain), The Metro Theatre(Sydney), The Excelsior(Glebe), The Bridge Hotel(The Rocks), The Bat & Ball(Surrey Hills), The Annandale hotel(Annandale), The Dekk Bar(Terrigal), The Attic(The Entrance), The Vic on the Park(Sydney)The Goldfish Bowl(Kings Cross), The Surf Rock Hotel(Collaroy) etc.
