Phil has been performing in bands – top 40, blues, rock and original – as lead guitarist and vocalist for over 20 years. More recently, he has moved into solo and duo performance with his repertoire consisting of great songs, impassioned delivery and tasteful guitar accompaniment. He has also taught guitar and bass as a professional tutor for over 15 years.
Being a professional teacher by day, Phil gets to dissect and analyse many songs. He believes one of the keys to a great performance is song choice and choosing songs that suit your voice. Also, being versatile enough to play different genres and performing with conviction, professionalism, honesty and zeal.

Bio:
Phil spent his early youth growing up in Mooroolbark, before relocating with his family to Port Hedland, WA. As a teenager he became hooked on music and quickly helped form his first band, ‘Shaydz’ whilst still at school.
In 1989, Phil had the privilege of playing in front of a massive crowd (15,000) at the annual Bindoon Rock Festival with band ‘Black Rose’. After progressing from hard rock, Phil developed his interest in blues, and regularly attended ‘The Open Mike Blues Society’ jams in Perth. He also penned several originals. Highlights include; playing at The Bridgetown Blues Festival (1992), The Fremantle Blues Festival (1995) and having some originals played on local community radio.
Since leaving WA, Phil became an integral part in the success of Darwin cover band ‘Cold Shot’, and enjoyed various gigs, including several at the famous beachside venue The Ski Club.
After establishing himself back in Melbourne, Phil has enjoyed success teaching – from home and at various music schools - and from playing in various cover bands, most notably ‘Groove Jooce’ for several years.
He has since progressed to solo and duo work, playing classic hits from the 60’s to today with impassioned delivery and tasteful guitar accompaniment. Venues have included; pub’s, café’s, wineries and wedding ceremonies.
Qualifications:
A mixture of quality tutors, self learning and gigging.
Part time one year at NMIT/vocal studies.
