She earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz voice in 1993 at Adelaide’s prestigious Elder Conservatorium and has released 2 CD’s — Jacki Cooper and Friends (2000) and Love For Sale (2002). Her singing career highlights include performing with international jazz greats, Mark Murphy, Mulgrew Miller, Lewis Nash, John Clayton, Madeline Eastman, and Jim Cullum. Australian highlights include performances with James Morrison, Don Burrows, George Golla, Graeme Bell, John Morrison, and Dave Dallwitz. In 1994, Jacki was invited to teach jazz voice for the world-renowned Stanford Jazz Workshop at Stanford University in California. During this time, she gigged regularly with local San Francisco musicians, sang on Fog in the City Radio with the Harvey Wainapel Quintet, and performed with the Jim Cullum Jazz Band at the famous Landing Jazz Club on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. While in the USA, Jacki studied voice with a bevy of renowned jazz singers including Mark Murphy and Betty Carter, and also took instruction from musicians Mulgrew Miller, John Clayton and Lewis Nash. Always ready to hit the road to sing, Jacki has toured Europe, Russia and Scandinavia with an 8 piece swing band, sung with jazzluminaries in the USA, and performed with jazz stars in Viet Nam at the Sax n Art jazz club in Saigon. Closer to home, Jacki has been invited to perform at numerous events and festivals around the country, including the world renowned Manly International Jazz Festival and the Sydney DH International Jazz Festival. As well as being a dedicated jazz educator and performer, Jacki has also featured on stage and screen, performing in numerous theatrical productions, television advertisements, and movies. On Adelaide television, Jacki was host of the lifestyle show, “City Scene”. Jacki was nominated for Best Jazz Artist in the 2004 MusicOz Awards and 2006 Australian National Songwriting Awards. In Australia, Jacki performs with John Morrison’s Swing City Big Band, The Itty Bitty Big Band, Lounge House, John Morrison’s New Generation, as well as fronting her own band, Jacki Cooper Jazz Quintet.
