Recently Justine has been performing at The Kalvin Club, Monroes, Pause Bar, Dizzys,The Greyhound and The Laundry, with her latest band featuring Shane Ryall on Guitar,Andy Ross on Bass and Andy Fitzgibbon on Drums Justine, along with Mark Fitzgibbon produced and presented a 6 part TV series “The jazz show” about jazz in melbourne, broadcast from March 2008 on Channel 31. Born and based in Melbourne, Australia. Justine Jones took up music at high school in the suburbs, first playing flute and then the saxophone. She played in all the school bands, had lead roles in the musicals, and played with Williamstown & Keilor show bands. Justine took up tenor saxophone prior to jetting off to Canada as an exchange student for a year. She returned to Strathmore High school where she went on tour to Malaysia with the band, completed her V.C.E. and was active in amateur musical theatre. Justine studied improvisation on Saxophone at the Victorian College of the Arts. She jammed around town and gigged with the likes of:
Upon graduating Justine freelanced with many bands, copied music for film and television (including feature films, Neighbors and GTV 9 Carols by candlelight), composed music and continued with her band "The Nointers". Soon after she orchestrated in a musical for the Victorian Arts Center "Miss Ceremonial Velvet and her reactionary Cabaret ensemble" written by David Chisolm. After the run of the musical, Justine headed to Europe: in particular Amsterdam,whilst studying composition at the Sweelink Conservatorium for nigh on a year. She also traveled and played with the local bands and DJs in Paris, London and New York. When Justine returned to Australia Justines' original band played at Chapel off Chapel,Bennetts Lane & other venues,before touring Adelaide, where they played at all the major venues under the name of Flesh. After a successful tour, Justine and her band recorded the Album "As you do" with Mal Stanley for Jazz Track on the ABC. She independently released the CD, which was launched at Bennetts Lane in 1998. Meanwhile her classical composition "Tantalize, Frivolize, Mesmerise" was featured at the 3rd Australian Women’s Music Festival in Sydney. At this time Justine played saxophone with Sally Boydens band -Gumpy's, Dexters Rank Arena,"98" and with Judy Baily at the Melbourne Womens Jazz Festival. The group went on tour to Sydney to showcase at the PCMC, and performed at the Basement, the Beach road Hotel and other venues. In 1999 Justine began presenting "Grooviore" a radio show on 106.7 PBS fm on Monday mornings from 9am-11am A jazz program featuring local artists, the show was on the air until May 2004. In 2002 she organized a successful PBS benefit concert entitled SAXARAMA featuring Ian Chaplin, Jamie Oehlers, Anton Dellecca & Ashley Gaudion. In 2003 Justine produced a live recording of "The Situationists" and The Shuffle club in 2004 on her radio show. Justine was an MC at The Wangaratta festival of Jazz for 5 years. And has appeared in several short films and Documentaries "Queenie", "Good as Dead" & "The Chizla" as well at performing on the interactive CD rom "Gogzi" Justine has also performed with ARIA award winner Andrea Keller With her band - The Playboys of Rhythm, have performed at:
The Band have appeared on ASYLM TV on Ch31 and played live to air for open week on 106.7PBS fm. In 2003 Justine and Roy joined Harold Lye and Enzo Ruberto in a Live recording on "Local and Live" on 3CR with Richard Fields. The band also performed at:
