Previously known as the band “Human Shield”, Conspiracy of Influence are a 3 piece alternate rock band from the far north coast of NSW. The members include Sam Collier on bass, keyboards and lead vocals, Dane McKenzie on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Nathan McDonald on drums.

Although Conspiracy of Influence was only formed in October 2009 Sam Collier and Dane McKenzie have been writing and performing music since high school. Under the name Human Shield they released an independent EP titled “House On The Hill” and performed various live shows around the north coast area. Due to difficulties regarding line up changes and musical direction the band broke up in mid 2009. This set back however, was to be the turning point in a new direction for the remaining members of the band. Sam and Dane recruited old school mate Nathan McDonald on drums to form “Conspiracy Of Influence”.

In September 2009 the band released an album titled “The Johnston Street Experiment” which was recorded at the SAE audio engineering college at Byron Bay whilst front man Sam collier was doing his bachelor of digital media degree. Within a short time a local radio station was playing the single from the album titled “City” since then the single has received airplay on triple M in Melbourne and Sydney as well as online radio stations.

The bands sound cross a number of genres including rock, pop, metal, and electro. Some of the songs have been described as sounding 80’s due to the use of synthesizers, some tracks are also quiet heavy with distorted guitars and metal drum beats. This all stems from the band being influenced by metal and rock bands like Metallica, Iron maiden, Foo Fighters, and being influenced also by synth pop.

The bands goal now is to play as many live shows as possible to establish themselves

In the Australian music scene. The band is extremely hard working and is willing to consider every opportunity possible to further themselves in the industry.
