Born in a rural town 30 kilometres south of Darwin, Northern Territory, comes a lyrical hip hop specialist by the name of Emerald Sun. If you thought hip hop was missing heart and suffering in the lyrical department, Emerald Sun is artist is determined to fill that long neglected void. Emerald Sun is not one to be afraid of diving into personal struggles and attacking the many flaws in today’s society.

However, Emerald Sun chooses not to categorise himself as a one stop rapper, instead he thrives on diversity going from beer drinking party bangers like “Land Down Under” to the more soulful story telling vibe of “When You Are”, then unleashes fury with throat rippers like “Menace to society” and drum and base banger “Tell’em”.

After representing his state in boxing, rugby league and rugby union the multi-talented Emerald Sun has chosen to focus his energy solely on his first true love.......Hip Hop. He made the move to the big city of Melbourne after realising his beloved hometown didn’t present the opportunities to expand his career.

2010 is set to be a busy year for Emerald Sun with his ‘Green & Gold Mixtape’ coming out in December this year, followed by his first public release “The Sun is Shining EP” due to be officially released early January 2010 through independent label Humidity Entertainment. Core production on the “The Sun Is Shining” EP is due to up and coming hip hop/electro/soul producers THA BROTHERZ who are a hidden diamond in the rough set to blow out of the surface into the atmosphere of the Australian music scene.

Other contributions on “The Sun is Shining EP” include Pabstrakt who produced some gems on hip hop artist 360’s “What you see is what you get” Album as well as features form NZ R n B singer Jhay V. Be sure to keep an eye on this guy in the next 6 months for Emerald Sun is set to become the main topic of discussion in Australian hip hop.
