Four Brisbane dancers with backgrounds in cabaret and tribal belly dance, as well as burlesque came together through their love of all things quirky and formed the troupe ‘Opalesque’. Expanding from their dance roots to explore unique electronic music inspired adaptations, Opalesque is a journey through the many colours of contemporary belly dance from the dark and mysterious to the jovial and comic. Opalesque’s goal is to broaden the artistic horizons of belly dance and inspire both the belly dance community and the general public.
Their ambition is to prove that there is more to belly dance that meets the eye...
Already in their short time coming, they have been in high demand, appearing at events across South East Queensland such as Brisbane cabaret stage shows, outdoor music festivals and stage fundraisers. To keep with this demand, they are working tirelessly to develop e as many choreographies one can poke a shisha at. As well as many hours slaving away at the sewing machine creating that new fabulous costume to boot!
