Line up(s) available: solo, 2 piece (duo), 3 piece (trio), 4 piece (quartet) Montarsha Jones (born 27th Sep, 1984) is a Melbourne based pianist known for her eclectic mix of various musical genres including jazz, blues, funk, soul and contemporary. Originally from New Zealand, Jones toured the country extensively playing a number of shows including The Christchurch International Jazz Festival, the New Zealand Arts Festival, Represent (a touring live hip-hop show) and many more. After a stint at the Christchurch Jazz School, she moved to Melbourne to work on solo projects and to continue study under some of Melbourne’s top pianists. Jones’ current projects include; The Montarsha Jones Trio (a contemporary jazz piano trio covering classic jazz standard material as well as ‘new standards’, a selection of contemporary popular material delivered in a piano trio style.), Dean Gaudoin (A solo project with one of Melbourne’s top bassists, featuring all original material.), Sarah Carnegie And The Yeah Rights (Sarah was an Australian Idol contestant in 2008. Jones is Carnegie’s pianist, currently recording her debut album and performing with her around Australia).
Montarsha is available as a solo jazz pianist, or with the addition of upright acoustic bass to form a duo, or with bass and drums for a traditional piano trio. The set is negotiable and special song requests are most welcome. N.B. The Montarsha Jones Trio is available to play a more up-beat funk/fusion inspired set featuring covered material by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Sly And The Family Stone, Al Green, Ray Charles, The Commodores and many more.
