Roving Musicians

The Roving Musicians category lists musicians who are able to change 'spot location' inbetween sets or wander and play! Depending on the group, the musicians can walk amongst the audience or wander around a crowd, creating mobile music. Or they are able to change locations inbetween sets.

Jugularity plays an energetic mix of folk, jazz, blues, lounge, rap and gypsy music in a comedy-cabaret style. Jugularity is versatile - performing in concert, or as roving minstrels, or calling folk/bush dances or doing kids' shows. Jugularity is available for all manner of functions: festivals, fashion parades, weddings, divorces (half price if they played the wedding), open for inspections, wine tastings and other intimate occasions.

The Bossa Negra band is dedicated to the performance of Brazilian music. After almost 2 years traveling in Brazil and studying the numerous Brazilian music styles from Recife down to Rio de Janeiro, he has complied a repertoire that includes the styles of samba, frevo, maracatu, forro, MPB (Brazilian pop) as well as the famous bossa nova that dominated the world since the 1960’s.
Songs made famous by well known Brazilian composers and musicians such as; Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sergio Mendes, Jorge Ben Jor, Joao Gilberto, Elis Regina, Djavan, Milton Nascimento, Luiz Gonzaga and Pixinguinha are all included in the band’s repertoire.

Speewah takes its name from a legendary sheep station in Australian history where everything was said to be larger than life. Speewah was formed too long ago to remember and has a list of concert performances, bush dances, functions, celebrations, schools and pubs long enough to resurface the Gun Barrel Highway. We have performed on ferries, trains, ocean liners, trucks, camels, catamarans, campfires and of course, stages. Drawing on the Folk and Celtic traditions of our pioneers.

Playing a mix of passionate gypsy tunes, wild Klezmer, romantic French Waltzes, exotic Tangos, lively Tarantellas and more….. their music often inspires dancing in the streets! As well as playing for Festivals and Street Parties, this trio is also available for private functions. Formed in 2000, the Carnival Gypsy Minstrels have spread joy and merriment through their music at many Festivals and Events in SE QLD.

A versatile performer of traditional Australian songs and dance, Greg's performances encourage audience participation. Greg has developed a number of shows specifically for the Corporate market, whilst others are aimed at pre-schoolers and a younger audience.

Expert instrumentalists, close vocal harmony and tight arrangements feature as part of all Fiddlers Green gigs. Available for concerts, bush dances, schools, tourism, corporate functions, weddings or tours. Fiddlers Green have toured extensively and are sought after for corporate, private gigs, festivals and school concerts. Crowds of several hundred are catered for as easily as small groups. They perfrom Australiana, Irish, contemporary, all your favourites, traditional tunes and their own original songs of Australian history.

The Caribbean Kings are a talented and versatile group of musicians who have based their style on a blend of Caribbean, Latin American and African music. These styles are well known for their appealing dance rhythms and infectious joyous melodies. In choosing repertoire, the band has endeavoured to remain within the boundaries of ‘popular’ music, to remain commercially appealing and entertaining.

The duo was originally named Gypsy Nights after a famous duo that entertained in the restaurants and cafes of Budapest in the 1930s.

Gypsy, Klezmer, Middle-Eastern, French, Italian, Russian, Jazz and Tango Music that ranges from soulful to wild.
Australian concerts highlights include the National Folk Festival and National Multicultural Festival. Phil and Ernie’s three NZ tours have included the Wellington Folk Festival and the Christchurch Jazz Festival.

The Tallest Christmas Tree is a superb stilt-walking Christmas tree. Available for walkabout gigs, this clever tree can also rove with her ukulele and gorgeous voice, cooking up a cauldron of Christmas carol delights! She’ll bring out the happy side of Christmas in us all. She’s got a bag of little tricks to entertain the kids and if you like she can even help you work out what to buy your family for Christmas! You better watch out, you better not cry, The Tallest Christmas Tree is coming to town!

Afö (Malinke for ‘speak’) is a traditionally based West African drumming ensemble performing high energy rhythms from the region of Guinea in West Africa. Afö draw on the traditional music of the Malinke people and in particular those taught by the highly renowned exponent of the tradition, Mamady Keita. Afö capture the essence of this undeniably powerful and engaging traditional music and present an explosive and mesmerising performance.

A larger than life comedy music duo.
Performing on stilts in fab poppy-flavoured costumes, their highly engaging comedy skits, fun music and flower hats swaying to the songs are sure to make a splash at your next event.

Justine Jones is a gifted female performer, branded by her mane of red hair, bright red lipstick and with her saxaphone by her side. Justine has performed internationally and locally in the hottest jazz spots, and with the best in the business. A woman and her music, is ready to perform with different line ups and always serving up the best in Jazz.

Bush Dances and Festivals - for 10 yrs the band played the Bush Dance for the children at the Gympie Muster, and has performed at Festivals and Shows all over Queensland including Woodford Folk Festival, The George St Fair, Farm Fantastic, Starlight Stampede, Hervey Bay Whale Festival, Pine Rivers and Mt Gravatt Shows, SE Qld Garden Expo... to name just a few. They have many schools and clubs that have become regular clients.

Spicy and exuberant, Bois et Charbon play a contagious and fiery combination of timeless tunes suitable for any occasion. Formed in February 2007, they have performed at bars, restaurants and social functions to high acclaim. Their repertoire consists of Django Reinhardt compositions, Jazz standards and traditional Manouche tunes.

The East Side Jazz Band is one of Victoria's most popular Jazz Bands. The band is made up of some of Melbourne's finest musicians. They can move from very laid back swing style (Sinatra, Ellington, Connick Jr., Armstrong) to Latin Rhythms, Blues (Ray Charles), and Funk styles. They can play as small as a trio with a guitarist who sings in a Sinatra style with a sax player who doubles on trumpet and clarinet and a double bass player who sings. If you want the bigger sound the band adds drums and more brass or other instruments as required.

Klezmania is regarded as Australia's leading Klezmer (an Eastern European folk style) band and performs dynamic instrumentals and songs in Yiddish and English.
They carry the audience along an emotional journey and break down language barriers through engaging explanations of the songs. With energy and passion they play everything from romantic ballads to whirling frenetic traditional dance tunes to foot tapping jazzy songs.
