The Blues Band category contains musicians and guitarists who specialise in blues and blues and roots music.
This style of music derives from early 20th century African-American secular music, typically using 4/4 rhythm and a 12-bar structure. The phrase 'the blues' is a reference to having a fit of the blue devils, meaning 'down' spirits, depression and sadness. As evident in the lyrics of blues songs. To quote B.B. King, "The blues is an expression of anger against shame and humilation".

Broderick Smith returns with his 4 piece band: 70’s Legendary band The Dingoes were inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame and in celebration, performed for the first time in 30 years. Broderick sang his signature song, “Way Out West”.

Tattooed Amazonian Blues singer/song-writer Lee Sappho was a ‘late starter’ to the blues at the age of 32. Already a single Mum of two, this Australian born musician has proven that with determination and hard work dreams can and do come true. Within two short years her first recording ‘Big Bad Momma’ had sold out and numerous performances put her name out as a force to be reckoned with on both the local and national blues scene.

Daxton is a folk singer songwriter that plays alternative country rock and blues originals as well as a wide range of covers froms artists such as Bob Dylan, Nirvana, U Am I, Steve Earle, Oasis, David Bowie, James Taylor, Neil Young and more. Daxton is available as a solo acoustic act or as a 3-4 piece band and is self-supplied with PA system suitable for acoustic sessions. His unique style will have you overwhelmed.

A singer/songwriter hailing from Melbourne. Within his performance Shane can swap between an electric & acoustic lapslide, bottleneck acoustic slide guitar, a standard acoustic used for chords and mellower tunes, harmonica, a 12 string acoustic lapslide, a resonator Regal lapslide and Djembe.

Synergy Blue is a formation of experienced live blues musicians based in Melbourne whose performances cover a wide range of styles and feels for Blues and Blues & Roots music.

Good Rockin' Tonite have a large playlist of blues and rock tunes that will get your party shakin. From "The Fabulous Thunderbirds", Chuck Berry and Van Morrison to "The Angels" there's something to please everyone at our shows. We are quite happy to play private functions to pub shows... anywhere really!

The Shinkickers are a five piece outfit consisting of Paul Daly (harmonica, vocals), Gerry Quigley (guitars, mandola), Terry Pugh (keyboards), Roy Daniel (6 string bass) and Ace Follington (drums).
Roy and Ace are Dave Hole's rhythm section when he's in town and have just come back from a world tour with him. They play a blend of rhythm and blues, world, experimental, contemporary rock with a celtic twist- what we like to call Blues fusion.

We are a blues trio based in Melbourne. Huc, the guitarist and singer, has major interests in acoustic blues and an extensive background in the Melbourne live scene. Paul, drummer, is a professional musician with a wide range of experience, including jazz. Adam started off in electric blues and has expanded his tastes with jazz and funk, working with singers in various formats. These combine to add a wide range to the fundamentals of blues Huc expresses, at times with an almost jazz feel and at times with the full array of music that blues encompasses. We combine a range of originals with explorations of classic blues songs.

The Diablo Brothers are a four piece blues based band who cover a wide range of musical territory from blues-jazz-soul-funk-rock-reggae. The Diablo's consist of Cam Peko on guitar, harmonica and vocals, Sean Riley on drums and vocals, Jason Cutler on bass and vocals and Robert d'Allesandro on keys and vocals.

Gerry Hale's Innocent Bystanders is acoustic swing, flavored by bossa and salsa and even a of bit country at times. A major feature are two female voices that duck and weave around a dead-pan smooth jazz-style vocal. Songs range from Payday Blues to the epic Moody Richard (the innocent bystander himself), and Canned Music - warning of the dangers of live music where “my baby left me for the drummer.” Kinda funny songs but often with a darker side, all rich with harmonies and complex arrangements. He mixes it up quite a bit, from story songs to just plain jive : the deeper you listen, the better it gets

Dirt Road Special could be best described as an eclectic Country, Blues, Roots & Swing band - playing covers and originals of local and international artists. Their style of music is cruisey and very easy to listen to for those who want to chill with a glass of red or if you’re in the mood, get up and have a boogie.

Combining a formidable guitar playing style strongly influenced by Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee, Leslie West, Ted Nugent, Gary Moore, and Z Z Top, a powerful, melodic, gravel-tinged voice in the Classic Rock mould, with professional backings on mini-disc, Jim achieves a full-band sound at listenable volume. Whether it’s softer Bluesy tunes while patrons are dining, loud and raunchy Blues-based Classic Rock in the public bar, or outdoor festivals, Jim has the classic songs, the world-class musicianship, and the experience to deliver the right mix of music across a broad range of tastes.
