Singer/songwriter/guitarist Abrie (pronounced Aah-bree) has been writing and performing for several years in both his native South Africa and in Australia, since immigrating in 2000. Abrie's style is not genre specific, as portrayed in his diversity as both a solo artist and in bands such as energetic Sydney rock outfit, Timeslave and currently with his new band, Airbender. Acoustic trio Fly South are a musical adventure, that journey through several genres including folk, jazz and avant-pop. The group was founded mid-2006, with the goal of developing original compositions and contemporary standards in an acoustic setting. They have been compared to several artists including Billie Holiday, Jose Gonzales, and Bob Dylan. Each member has their own distinct style, along with a combined love of melody, harmony and the subtle art of ‘the song’.
